The screen is terrible - no black, lots of light. Bad build quality too.

This portable Blu-ray/DVD player was more expensive than many of the high end monitors I've used so I was hoping it would have a decent screen. It's not like this. The screen just doesn't display black, it's all medium grey, I haven't seen a screen that can't display black in decades. Also, the screen sees a lot of white light from all directions, which exacerbates the problem. Above. The one I got was worse on the right and bottom but still had bleeding on the top and left. The bleeding at the bottom and right extended an inch across the screen, forming a sort of pattern so it was not only distracting, but severely degraded the image quality. The image quality itself left a lot to be desired. I'm not sure if it's the black issue above or some other separate issue, but the image always seems a bit grainy. The processing quality leaves a lot to be desired. It's advertised as portable, but I wouldn't carry it around with me. I would also be concerned if it would hold up to prolonged use. Cheap plastic, DVD compartment lid is loose, power button looks like it will break after a few dozen uses. Peripheral cables were standard, low-quality cables. However, there is nothing surprising here. Simply put, this is a $50 item being sold at an incredible premium. Don't buy this. but the picture always looks grainy.
