I have the ones that came with the system with a silicone ring as pictured. That was great. They do NOT have a silicone seal. It's terrible. It's just smooth plastic that sits in a hole and slowly lets unfiltered water into the filtered part. I can't even get the silicone gasket off the old ones to put them in because there's no slot for it. At first I only saw a few drops during installation, so I thought everything would be fine. Now I notice a steady stream of unfiltered water entering the filtered part and everyone tells me the water tastes funny. Classic scam, trick people into buying the system and selling lower quality refills to save money. I'll look around for a new system because obviously I can't trust this brand. UPDATE 1/4/18. So far it has filtered out some cycles since I installed it for a few weeks. It still smells of plastic and chemicals. It's still a bit better than tap water, but we're increasingly buying bottled water from the store because it just tastes unhealthy, so there's no point in continuing to drink it.
