I want to say that having this device is much better than not having it. again more to maximize comfort. It doesn't stretch the garbage bag so the loose ends can be caught by the rake and nothing gets inside. This keeps it on the hoop, after the bag is half full the leaves just fall out the front once you pull out the rake. I found I could fill the bag about half full and then I had to work through that and fill the rest the old fashioned way of bending and lifting a bunch of leaves at a time. Ear, I'm going to add some of these big "hands" to raise them, and then the process will be a little quicker. Despite the lackluster star rating I gave it, if it broke I would buy it again. Any little labor-saving help.
