Wanted to install USB outlets in the center console of our sofa but wanted to keep the heat generating power supply away from the interiors. This solution worked great. We bought a 2 USB power strip that stays on the floor. And we routed the cable through the hole we cut in the plastic of the center console. We can now use short charging cables that are conveniently tucked away in the center console when not in use, rather than long USB cables that keep getting lost or snagged in the mechanisms of the couch.
