I bought it because it was supposed to be easy to clean. Unfortunately, a machine that's easy to clean but makes horrible waffles is useless. I tried it six times with different batter thicknesses and times and could never get it to make a waffle that wasn't COMPLETELY HALF when the lid was on. Imagine two parts of a hamburger bun, top and bottom. That's how the waffles came out of this thing. I had to scrape off the top half of the lid every time. What a hassle. Plus, you can forget about "super non-stick coating". It was no less sticky than any other iron I've used. The peculiarity of the volcano is a joke. It's just an oddly shaped waffle iron with a hole in the top. Nothing more. Sent back next day after receipt.
