Review on Perko 0456DP7 Marine Flush Valve by Ricky Lahoti

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worth the trouble: exhaust and emissions

I have two of these 1-1/4" Perko adapters for two 6.2L Merc engines and a 1" Perko (cut down to 3/4") for my bought Jenny. All three using the same 5/8" inlet with a Perko water pickup (water hose) on the rear of my tail gun plus a pair of 5/8" tees and about 30 Foot 5/8" supply hose connected. Found that a 5/8" supply was sufficient to power both motors at idle, but not both at the same time. The Genny actually drew in twice the flow as the larger motors at idle, and the 1 inch perko swallowed more water than i could give it.. but it worked fine.. i used these perkos in 3 different situations and they worked exactly how i hoped: 1) im I was able to dry dock both engines and feed water from a garden hose until she got warm en enough to change the oil (probably 3 hours) 2) at my dock I was able to flush the brackish/salty water out of my pumps and manifolds without having to close any seacocks (something very difficult to achieve on my boat ) 3 ) I have used a submersible pump yes 3/4 HP to suck antifreeze out of a 5 gallon bucket with the drain flushing into my perco (garden hose). I winterized both engines and the engine (plus their mufflers) in about 1 minute each, using a total of 6 gallons of antifreeze. Plate & Fittings): #0457DP71" Perko Valve: #0456DP6 I couldn't be happier with the performance of these perkos, although a couple of buddies tried to remove them because they are all plastic. I personally think plastic (if it's strong enough) probably works longer/smoother than metal parts (especially in salt) but makes it a bit jumpy without an ABYC certification stamp If they crack/fail the boat goes straight to the bottom I've tried finding more info from Perko 3 times and they never answered my calls/emails.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Good but not great
