Some gauges are far more useful than you will ever know in electronics/EE.

I spend a lot of time fixing electronic problems at work and replacing failed components. In many cases I work with PCBs that are unable to power the circuitry from a DC supply or batteries to periodically troubleshoot by measuring the voltage with a DMM and an oscilloscope. This is a handy device, it's always with me. For example, some LEDs can be tested with a DMM like Fluke configured to measure when testing diodes, depending on the power requirements for the particular LED and its color and luminosity characteristics. For some LEDs, you can see the diode flash momentarily with a Fluke (or other DMM). However, some LEDs will not light up when using only a diode tester on a DMM. When testing LEDs, I take this unit in front of a DMM, it reliably lights and LED's with short or fast bursts, including Cree LEDs. the ability to power the circuit may or may not be possible. This device saved me a lot of time when the circuit I was testing showed a completely weird test result e.g. B. reporting a dual diode instead of a bijunction transistor, or other PCBs did not show the same repeatable test. Result for failed boards while the board is not powered. I couldn't do my job without a multimeter as my number one tool, I just wouldn't bother with it. At the same time, this device reports the results obtained on the basis of intuition and practice using only a digital multimeter. Another valuable feature of this device is that I can take multiple transistors and get consistent readings for a range of powers, allowing me to balance a range of transistors in cases where they should work almost equally well. Using this device is much easier than building a test fixture to test transistors so they can be matched. I even do this with resistors, 1% error sounds good but isn't always the case - I use the ohmmeter function on my DMM for that, it's easy. For testing transistors or diodes, this device greatly simplifies the separation of similar devices. I haven't even had to change the 9V battery in almost two years of use.
