Husband had to buy this extension to match the grille we bought from Babies-R-Us. We have a large opening in our kitchen and it fits perfectly. It looks a lot better than the wooden gates we've had in the past. The gate closes by itself after entering and our 2 year old can't open it without us. We bought this to keep our dogs cooped up in the kitchen when we leave the house and our herding dog won't try to jump on it. I wrote this review mainly to assure you that the bottom of the gate is not a problem when you go through the gate. Our family of 4 has had a gate for 5 months now and no one has tripped over it not even my 2 year old! I know this was my biggest issue with purchasing the gate but I haven't seen any reviews talking about it. I hope this helps you!
