🔍 North States 5-Bar Extension for Auto-Close Baby Gate: Increase Width up to 52.75" (Adds 14" - Soft White) Review

Very nice gate, the design of this gate is well thought out. Quick and smooth installation, no wall mounting. Adding extensions is easy and fits very well and the device remains solid. I looked at many gates before buying and bought another brand besides this one. We put it back on and ordered another Northern States Gate.

I bought a 5 pin extension and it fits securely in the extension space on the gate; however, it was too long. So I buy 2 bars and for some reason it just doesn't fit securely. Once the gate was in place, you could literally slide the gate back and forth and see the space on either side of the extension. I had to send it back because I didn't dare use the extension at the top of the stairs.

I had a gate but had a much longer travel route. The Northern States Gate is great and with these extensions it does a good job of covering the distance I needed (about 60 inches). I installed them on both sides of the gate (enough, although I think you should only install them on one side to avoid centering the gate). My 3 dogs are allowed in 3 rooms of my house. I have an open kitchen and the opening is much wider than the door. There I bought an expensive barrier at Rip-Off Grandinroad. The problem is that it didn't close automatically and the animals checked to make sure I picked it up and closed it. It was too much work. I searched Revain to find a turnkey that had enough extensions. Works perfectly. I really like that the company has a table that shows which extensions you need for your range.

If I could give this gate zero or negative stars I would. First, their size chart is wrong! My deck is 61 inches wide so I bought a gate and a 4 prong extension. It turned out to be too small so I bought a second 4 rod extension - now it fits endlessly. The gates themselves are very fragile and not strong at all. Husband had to buy this extension to match the grille we bought from Babies-R-Us. We have a large opening in our kitchen and it fits perfectly.
