Very mixed feelings about this Dixco bag sealer. It's not intuitive or user-friendly, doesn't work smoothly as expected, but can get the job done at times. It was supposed to be 2 packs but only 1 pack arrived. I didn't know how to open the lid to put the batteries in, so I ended up opening it with a letter opener. It turns out that you can press firmly on one end of the gray cover and it pops open. But it was neither in the instructions nor on the product. It says "+" on one end and "-" on the other, which means nothing to me. The cut wasn't that great. The blade is short, and sometimes I can cut the pouch as I want, and sometimes I tear it. The heating element needs time to warm up. This also worked sometimes, mostly after a long warm-up and when I move it around the bag very slowly. It took 10 attempts to fully seal a compostable bag of chips, 3 attempts with a plastic bag for frozen salmon and failed with a coated dried fruit bag. They're all made of durable material, thicker than regular potato chip bags, but I don't have regular potato chip bags. The side of the sealant has a piece of metal in the middle, almost like a blade. I'm not sure if it's meant to conduct heat, but it cuts through the bag as I sometimes seal it with air holes, and I don't like it. Requires 2A batteries, not included. The hanging bracket is suitable for storage but must be removed to use the sealant.
