Review on IHome IP92BZ Dual Alarm Clock Radio by Mark Repp

iHome iA91 Review - Home Audio System

Pros:. Very nicely built. This radio looks solid and has a clean design. White numbers on a black background are easy to read. The LED design offers an improved number display with rounded corners. Very simple construction. The exact time is already set at the factory (for the Eastern time zone). Alarm 1 and 2 are easy to set - after a quick look at the manual the setting was obvious. The sound quality is very good from a small radio source. Set the sleep function and only press 1 button from now on. The same applies to the sleep function. With the remote control, your assistant can turn the iA91 on or off from across the bed. Minuses:. The radio reception is rather weak. It pulls 2 or 3 stations on FM (NPR, Community College) and about the same on AM even with properly positioned antennas. The iA91 is advertised with a weekday/weekend (or both) alarm setting. However, Alarm 1 (or Alarm 2) can only be set to a weekday or weekend schedule. This means that 2 people can only have separate alarms if they want to disable the holiday setting for example. It's really not a dual alarm system. Conclusion: The advantages far outweigh the disadvantages, which is why I give the iA91 a high rating. Hopefully the iPhone app will provide an easy alarm setting workaround that will help automate the weekday vs weekend dilemma.

Pros
  • Solid build
Cons
  • Hard to say

The best iPhone/iPod Radio/docking station for the money (Sub $200.00 price point).
