Received this to replace an incorrectly installed range hood in our home. Since we want a channelless option, the options are pretty limited. Saw this one and decided to risk it. Bad idea. The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was that they had changed it to 3 pins. Most of the "steady lights" around the house are hardwired and not plugged into an outlet (unless you buy everything from Ikea). So since I don't have an outlet directly above the hob, I had to go to HomeDepot to find a solution. Found it, didn't have to search, but I found a solution. So when I look at the hood, I see that they don't include a filter. Contrary to what people said in the comment/question section, they included the filter. Ok great now let's order a filter as this is not a regular item for this brand. After 4 days the filter comes, cheers for me, more money spent. So I look at the hood while I prepare to install it. I can see the 3 pin connector sticking out on the outside of the back panel. Now I don't know what other people's kitchens look like, but my range hood has to sit against the wall at the back, which isn't possible because they have a super thick plug that sticks out at the back, horrible design. I had to take my tools and drill a few holes just big enough to put a jigsaw blade in so I could cut a hole big enough to screw the connector back into the hood itself so it's "almost." " was right flush with what he can do. t stand horizontally because the cable is still sticking out at the back. Another headache for this thing. I finally installed it, it looks "decent". I want to try, so I press the light button. Nothing seems to be happening so I look at the lights, yes they are on but they are so dim I can't see the lights on the hob. GREAT. The light is about twice as dimmer as my daughter's old night light that she had when she was 3 years old. So I stand at the stove with "light" and only see shadows because the main lighting in my kitchen is MUCH brighter. than the ones on the hood. What's the point of turning on the light on this thing when it's so dim it LIGHTS NOTHING? An additional question, is it possible to somehow replace them? For example with something that not only "glows" but actually lights up? Anyway, I'm stuck on this thing for now as I had to physically redesign it to be usable. I turn on the fan to see how powerful/loud it is. Cool, it seems to be working fine. But wait, a few seconds later it's rumbling and vibrating, it's not an outer frame, it's not flimsy and cheap external 'filters', so I remove them and look inside, there's something inside where the real motor is. I don't know what to do about it now. I guess I can take the whole thing apart and see which part rattles against the thin aluminum of the frame, or I can live with it and hate the part for a while until it gets to the point where I buy a new one that does replace one, take it out the back and hit it with a baseball bat. Edit: It doesn't vibrate as much now, not sure when I did but after playing around with it a bit the issue is ok now. Added a video to show it doesn't do anything about smoke etc when venting.
