Works well as a heatsink and riser for media devices. The height allows airflow from below and the metal acts as a heatsink, which is great for passive cooling. I have a Roku and Samsung Smart Hub on one and just ordered two more for other media devices. The Roku feels a little cooler and the metal feels warm when the Roku flows, so you can tell the heat sink effect is working. That's not an impressive amount of cooling, and I have an open case, so you'll need some sort of fan for extra cooling or confined spaces. Media devices like Roku, modems, and routers often have components packed in small tight boxes that are heated for extra cooling, helping them work better and last longer. I wish they would put in better components and use roomy metal cases, but it's about maximizing profits and people want smaller devices.
