Review on πŸ”’ Convenient and Secure Marantec Wireless Keyless Entry System for Garage by Ray Mcknight

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A good product. Minor cosmetic/aesthetic fit issues and a bug in the ONE BUTTON DOWN feature that may be user error.

Good remote keyboard input. I would give 5 stars except for a few things. 1) It seems that the unit is not quite flat and tight against the wall mounting plate. On my unit, the lower right corner is not quite flush with the wall mount and appears to be slightly warped (about 1/16 inch clearance in that corner only). I've re-tightened the fixture's mounting plate and it appears to lay fairly flat against the plastered wall surface, so we're assuming these are just some tolerances in the plastic-encased manufacturing specs. Just a minor cosmetic nuisance. 2) The unit advertises that it comes with a pre-enabled feature for ONE BUTTON CLOSE - for example, use the ENTER button as a mechanical door button to "CLOSE" the garage door without having to enter the full keypad code (i.e. the assumption , you would have to know the code to open the door or use the synchronized remote control from the car etc.). But following the instructions I was never able to get this function to work. I've always had to use a keyboard code to control it up or down when activated after the 28 second grace period when only the ENTER key is required after the first code entry. Will play around with it some more but it doesn't seem to be working as advertised. Maybe I read the instructions wrong? I've tried manually enabling and disabling it multiple times as instructed to see if I can make any changes at all and nothing seemed to get the feature to work, despite the keyboard LEDs showing the correct blinking patterns etc. Strange. I love being able to sync this with a remote synchronous transmitter as the master with the receiver code by simply bringing it to the keyboard and moving it down as instructed when the LEDs are flashing. The beauty of this is that you don't have to use electrical sync cables like you would have to with the original remote transmitter master.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Hard to say
