This watch is beautiful! You can tell that care was taken in the construction. It may not be the highest quality wood, but they made the best of what they had. We bought this for our little one who is obsessed with clocks and that is one of the main reasons he plays music after the cuckoo. You can turn off the music if you prefer just the cuckoo, or leave it on silently. As the clock is battery operated, the weights are made of nicely painted plastic and are for aesthetics only. The volume cannot be adjusted up/down, but we don't need it in our living room. You could say the 12 songs come from a vinyl record/speaker rather than a music box, but they're still a pleasure to listen to. The pendulum is a nice touch too, we were lucky our cats lost interest in it and were able to leave it on. This is a great introduction to the world of cuckoo clocks if you don't want to spend money on Black Forest clocks. The amount of detail you get for what you pay is amazing.
