I figured out what the L-shaped eARC HDMI connector was for and removed the soundbar to attach it (it was sticking out too far and moving away from the wall). The soundbar works with the TV speakers and can be controlled with the TV remote control, and you can adjust the TV/soundbar speakers with the soundbar remote control. 2 HDMI cables included.
