Installing EZ and running Gr8 in California. But nothing exotic or complicated.

Reject all previous reviews that say this HTZSAFE solar alarm is difficult to install or doesn't work. I am 72 years old - WOMAN - who installed everything by myself! It is so easy! No power tools, no exotic gadgets. And no help! Before purchasing his HTZSAFAE alarm, I researched the best place to install it. My long uphill road is WEST. About 100 feet east of the house, the sensors are mounted with solar panels facing west, in the same direction as the driveway, ideal for catching the midday sun. From about noon until the sun is behind the hill, nothing covers the sensors. about three feet above the level of the driveway. No false alarms from dogs or coyotes, but definitely a walking person or vehicle. Instead of attaching the sensors with screws to avoid damaging the logs, heavy-duty plastic tape was originally firmly attached around the perimeter of the logs. The L-shaped mounting brackets on the sensors were then moved past the straps and tightened further, but NOT all the way. By using two bands for each tree, the sensors can be adjusted with horizontal sighting holes and bubble levels. Once everything is aligned and the main sensor beeps 6 times when the beam breaks, the plastic straps can be fully tightened. Because they are mounted on tree trunks, these HTZSAFE sensors are mostly invisible and well camouflaged. For the Liquidambar tree, I slipped old leather straps under the straps to protect the bark and keep the straps from slipping. After your sensors have been charged for the first time, test them out on a table or counter in your home or building BEFORE installing them. run to see how everything works. At first I couldn't figure out why the sensor beeps a few seconds after the beam breaks. I thought the beeps might reveal the presence or location of the sensors. up the driveway or a person interrupts the bars, the beeps are almost inaudible and sound approximately 20 seconds after the bars are interrupted after the person/vehicle is too far away to notice. During the actual installation, it showed that six beeps indicated the sensors were working correctly. Yee-Hah! Transmitting the signal to the upstairs receiver, inside a two-story house with penetrating floors, multiple framed walls and exterior plaster with no problems. It's electronics, no line of sight! One issue that has been a cause for concern is that the volume control on the receiver doesn't work the way I'm used to. REMEMBER: On older radios and TVs, or even spigots, turn the knob clockwise to increase the volume. To decrease the volume, turn counterclockwise. NOT SO on this receiver. To increase the volume, turn the knob counterclockwise. To decrease the volume, turn the knob clockwise. My volume control is set to maximum volume. This causes the dog to hang when it detects a signal, but I hear it throughout the house. HOW MUCH is your security worth! This HTZSAFE driveway alarm gave me an increased sense of security.

Pros
  • Battery and solar powered (no wiring required)
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
