DEFECTIVE RETURN GUARANTEE

BUYERS BEWARE! CUISINART'S "LIMITED WARRANTY" MAY BE LEGAL, BUT IT IS ALMOST A FRAUD! I bought this kettle in September 2015 and it broke down in December 2015. The one-year warranty is USELESS. When I called to troubleshoot, they sent me a replacement base. The replacement was almost a month old and dead when it arrived. Possibly defective but most likely the kettle was to blame. When I called to exchange the kettle, I found that (1) I must first ship the kettle back to them and (2) I must make an additional $15 payment to cover Cuisinart's shipping costs for the replacement unit. Because the kettle only has a "limited warranty". "So (taking into account $15 plus my own packaging and shipping costs) I'm being told to spend at least $30 to get a replacement device that I've had for three months - a device that never abuses or was abused. in no way This is a PREMIUM product. It should have a PREMIUM guarantee - just send me a replacement, block my credit card until I send the damaged card back in replacement packaging, etc. And the manufacturer will pay shipping both ways. This is common practice with other high-end products (and most Revain returns) and I think it's unforgivable that Cuisinart is taking an approach that seems to avoid having to honor its warranty. The representative was polite and professional throughout, but was unable to let me speak to her manager "due to the high volume of calls." She gave me an apology; It's not her fault, she's just doing her job. Like any employee, she must adhere to her employer's policies. But Quizinart's policy is unfortunate; It's not worth replacing and I will never buy a Cuisinart product again. DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT IF YOU NEED WARRANTY SERVICE!
