I think it's a great starter set and it gives a lot of options before you need to upgrade. I'm really into watercolors now, so I needed easels. I already have watercolors, paper and some brushes, so I chose this pack. For starters, the wooden easel arrived as described. There were no cracks or chips. The hardware worked as it should. The front and sides are machined, smooth and appear to be lacquered. The little box got stuck, so I pulled it out and ran a candle over all the parts that touched the frame. I put it back on and everything has been fine ever since. I've seen a large one in the Hobby Lobby with a large drawer for about $60, but it's no longer portable and is getting heavy and bulky. It's light enough to fold up like a big book and pull out when you need it. The small drawer is just big enough for brushes, pens, color chart and other small tools. The collapsible easel is a bit trickier to use, but I like it now. It has levers and clips all over it, and it takes a while to figure out, for example, that the center bar goes in the same hole as the belt. The legs stretch individually, which can be beneficial. There is a clip at the top for a drawing board or canvas. I don't have any kids or pets now, and I couldn't take it to the wind. There's a guy on Amazon who figured out how to make a pocket to put rocks in and hang in the middle and he's selling it here - maybe I'll copy it if needed. I always wash new brushes to get the starch out and make sure there are no protruding bristles. The red handled brushes look like they would work well with acrylic or oil so I'm saving them for that. The large pack of 15 general purpose brushes has hair and a wand, but I don't know what I'm going to use them for - US dealers sell a $3 pack on their website so they know they're cheap. The set in the blue zip case is actually very nice and even suitable for watercolor painting - the round brushes hold the tip well, hold water well and are comfortable to use. The fan brush is very interesting - it can create interesting effects. The brush case has an unpleasant smell, it needs ventilation, but it is convenient. I have not used other consumables, but one day I will come to them. It was a fun purchase. Bought through an alternative seller close to my home, TCP Global, who also had first class shipping. Everything was packed in a triple box and arrived in 2 days.
