Review on Lamin X Bicycle Frame Guard Matte by Robert Ryokan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Brilliant. Frosted. Difficult. Complete package.

Wow. just wow. I didn't even know this product (helicopter belt) existed until a few days ago. It was needed on my carbon fiber bikes to keep bags and headlights from rubbing paint off (dust and dirt collects under the belts - even if you only ride the road in good conditions - and acts like an abrasive under the belts). , which move slightly forwards and backwards when driving). Racers Edge seems to be in the lead, but I haven't seen matte versions yet. Then I saw it - a lot fewer reviews, but they were all positive. And it's matte (all my bikes have a matte finish). I was amazed when I received it. The kit includes tape, sprayer, small box cutter / Exacto, tape and a small rubber scraper. I wasn't expecting to use accessories but thought it was a nice touch. Not correct. I've used them all, they work perfectly, the tape lays clean (spray onto bike and sticky side of tape after backing is removed) and looks good. The presence of a spray gun, knife and squeegee greatly facilitated the process. I put two strips on the top tube, one on the seat post, one on the seat tube and one on the front of the head tube. Did this on two bikes and I have a lot of tape left. The tape itself feels strong, thick and tough. Tip: Using a little less is better than trying to get it right. You don't want the tape to overlap: it's too thick, so overlapping leaves room for dirt to get under the tape, and I suspect it will peel off over time. In theory, you want the ends of the ribbon to butt together, but that's tricky. I found it easier to use a slightly shorter piece so there is a minimal gap. It's definitely too long. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
