The bottom of the device is fully visible from any angle.
product description says to set "at least" 18 inches above range. When installed I had 30 inches. The entire bottom part (filters, light, etc.) is visible from every angle. Not sure what the purpose of the "oblique" filter is. The 30 year old hood he replaced was also very cheap, but the filter lay flat and you couldn't see anything unless you looked under the hood. He was exactly the same height as this Broan. I understand that this is an "economy" model, but it looks very tasteless.
