Review on πŸ“ž AT&T CL4940 Corded Standard Phone: Answering System & Backlit Display in White by Gail Rogers

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good quality great sound easy to use works well no EMI

I wanted a wired answering machine to avoid EMI from cordless and cell phones and after buying several different standalone answering machines with poor sound quality and Features I bought this wired answering machine. I was very happy with the quality and features. The large display is easy to read, the function keys work and are logically arranged, the sound quality for recording calls, greetings and handsets is excellent, loud enough even for the hearing impaired. The phone features a large, easy-to-use volume button on the front of the phone, so you can adjust your phone's ringer, recording, earpiece, or speaker volume in an instant. The initial setup is so intuitive that I didn't need a setup guide. it's happening The screen has a yellow backlight when you receive a call or when you press any button on your phone. It's legible even from a few feet away, but I'm not sure if color-blind people would have a problem with the amber backlight. The power button is a large, red illuminated button when it's on, and the message light is a large, red flashing button that's easy to see from a distance. , it uses phantom power through the ground wire to save settings through frequent power outages/pulses so I don't have to reset anything after a power outage. I don't know if it works on a VOIP line. You can at least make phone calls over a wired phone line during a power outage, but the display will only work if the phone's power is connected to a UPS. You can record your own announcement or use an automated announcement. One caveat: when you get a call from an extension, the phone shows it as a missed call on the screen, which I don't care as I'm only interested in messages, but you can just scroll through the call log. Screen to view all missed calls. It's also annoying when a call comes in and the answering machine picks up, and then you pick up the phone or extension, the voice recorder doesn't turn off but transmits your call over the speaker. The only way to stop this is to turn off the power. You can mount your phone on the wall. I only see links to instructions in Spanish in other reviews, this was not the case on my phone.
