I've only had them for a few weeks but I really like them. The process of double locking objects has become so simple and easy that I wish I had known earlier. I haven't broken them yet but they seem to be as strong as the other 8 handcuffs I have. The lever clasp was tight on both pairs I received. This was to be expected. They sat on the shelf for who knows how long. I sprayed a dry lube spray on the internals, lever and pivot points and ran the bolt for a bit. I pulled the lever down hard and it eventually got a lot smoother as it started to work and dry grease seeped in. I looped a thread through the ratchet for a while and quickly pushed it through with my finger to make it spin back and forth. into the ratchet so that several teeth are engaged. When I worked out the action I added some dry lubricant. This is the normal recommended break-in process that any new pair of handcuffs should have. Do not use oil on the inside of the handcuffs. At best, lightly oiling the outer surface will help protect the finish. The oil will attract and hold dust/dirt/dirt which will clog internal parts and cause problems in the future. Graphite dust is recommended for internal parts. I use dry lubricant with teflon spray.
