Cotton absorbs paint very quickly, and by the time it's all done, the drying process will have sucked 25% of the pigment out of your painting. They are pre-treated with plaster, but I always cover them with a layer of white acrylic before use. If you want fine detail and smooth strokes, apply a white acrylic base and then apply a coat of sealer or polyurethane before painting. Once prepared, these canvases are just as easy to work with as high-quality linen canvases. I generally go through a set once a month and they never let me finish. Very good quality and I am very happy with it.
