Fast, feature-rich scanner

I really liked this scanner because it's wireless. This allows me to diagnose the car by checking things around the car instead of being strapped to the driver's seat. The user interface of this device is surprisingly intuitive and very responsive. Viewing real-time data was particularly helpful when diagnosing more complex issues across multiple vehicles. It is truly a bi-directional scanner and allows you to make many adjustments to new vehicles. The seller is very responsive to inquiries. Ultimately, after discussions with customer service, I decided to upgrade to the 906BT scanner as I needed the bump test capability in addition to the reset/programming capability included in this scanner. I have used several competing brands for this scanner in the past. , and this model blows them out of the water. What I really like is that when you tweak the settings with this model, it explains what the different settings are on the screen. Many other scanners have very vague settings like "Mode 1, Mode 2, Mode 3" which require you to check the factory manual for the car you are working on, i.e. if you happen to have a copy of the FSM. I was pleasantly surprised that each of the options or "modes" received specific explanations from the manufacturer, as they are often used to set operational parameters. The way the pedals, particularly the clutch, are controlled on most vehicles makes it virtually impossible to collect real-time data during road tests. This device has a very compact button that is barely visible when installed, and the tablet itself has a button retaining clip. The included tablet is handy too, as it's thick enough to grip either way and has a cool little kickstand so you can view data at a comfortable angle. The molded case allows you to securely hold the expensive diagnostic system even with greasy hands, which is inevitable when working with cars. Several other tablet tools I tried had a textured grip on only one side and always felt flimsy and heavy to hold and view data since the display was only optimized for holding the tablet with the left hand in portrait mode. The software was easy to register, activate and update. Battery life was pretty decent but I'm just a hobby mechanic and don't own a shop or anything so I'll be working with maybe 1 car every few days if that's the case. In general, for an average and advanced user, this model will be more than enough. I would recommend this scanner for the vast majority of people.
