Review on 🌊 Enhance Your Water Quality with the Whirlpool WHAROS5 Reverse Osmosis Filter by Christine Chance

Overall great product

I use it under the sink on my covered porch. Live in Florida so you can use it all year round. I installed it myself. Do not use the water tap supplied with the device. It's cheap and mostly plastic. Throw it away. I bought Lowes' RO AquaSource Brushed Hot and Cold Water Dispenser with Hi-Arc Spout for $58. Works perfectly. The fitting that attaches to the top of the storage tank is the only leak I've had since installing it. This is because the instructions say you only need to wrap teflon tape twice around the threads on the top of the tank. I found that you need to wrap the tape 5 or 6 times. Then hand-tighten the screw connection 8 full turns. All other colored tubing connects easily, but you need to press hard twice to ensure a tight connection. For every gallon of reverse osmosis water, 3 gallons go down the drain as wastewater. Some other reverse osmosis systems are more efficient but more expensive, as are replacement filters. But the more sewage that accumulates, the longer you hear the water rushing down the drain. It doesn't matter since my unit is outside, but if you install it indoors it can take up to 2 hours to fill an empty tank and the drain doesn't stop until the tank is full again. It's less time if you only fill one glass. For example, if you empty the tank from a jug, do it before bed and you won't hear the water drain. The flow from the faucet is really good when the tank is full and gradually narrows as the tank empties. You really need to use this with soft water conditioner. Filters don't last as long with hard water because hard water is hard on the reverse osmosis membrane.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Empty
