Sounded good at first, ended up with terrible customer service!

Before I start, let me tell you that it takes a lot of effort to give a 1 star review. I believe every product can have a flaw and as long as the company supports it I will happily accept a replacement rather than smack them for it. This was not the case with Innovative Technology, the company behind it (and many other Victrola brands). Story. I bought it as a gift in early December. At the time, recent reviews were mostly positive, with some complaints about volume, audio quality, skin, etc. More good than bad. When we opened and installed the Christmas present, it sounded GREAT! We really enjoyed it. It didn't need to be turned up to get a very pleasant sound. Well, everything has changed in less than 2 months. Suddenly the speaker sounded like it had been blown up. No matter what record, disc, radio. All had the same result. We've never had speakers with more than 4. Anyway, I contacted their customer service via email (tried to call but the wait time was ridiculous). It took them at least 8 emails within 10 days to agree to send a replacement (they didn't refund). However, the final blow was that they wanted to send the box back at our expense. This is not what I would expect or endorse from a Revain dealer. We are in the 90 day warranty period, the company needs to support their product and we don't need to spend more time and money on it. While I'm sure not all products will end up like ours, I wanted to warn others that if this is the case, you should not replace it.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
