For years I have wondered if I should buy this lens. Wait for a good sale, save money, decide if it's worth it. Now that I've pulled the trigger I couldn't be happier. At $650, this is probably the best lens Fuji has made since the 16mm 1.4 (which will likely be my next purchase). It has beautiful bokeh, fantastic low-light performance and (when shooting in Boost mode) good instant autofocus. Although sometimes it tends to seek out touch when approaching moving objects. Even without OIS, this lens is still more than good in low light. The aperture performance down to f1.2 is amazing when shooting street photography in the late hours of the day. I am sure that together with the HX1 it would be an absolutely powerful lens. This lens is clearly designed for PORTRAITS. If you are looking for a silent cinema lens, then this is NOT for you! It works great but the auto focus motor is quite noisy which is good for a b-roll but no more. All in all, this is an insanely valuable lens for a portrait photographer and we think it's worth $999 you're willing to pay for. It's full price, but if you can snag it on sale, it's a total steal. that you are willing to pay for.
