This was my first pair of silk dance fans moving from hoops and other floating props. While there are undoubtedly some great little sellers that make silk fans, for the price if you can't afford them these fans are really cool. They flow beautifully and look amazing live and on film; I get compliments all the time! I've even had people ask if they are handmade, more expensive fans. I didn't find much discomfort holding them - it's normal for your hands to hurt a little before you get used to holding the fan while dancing, so you might feel some sensation at first. The wooden part gets a bit "loose"/frayed after a while, but I've had my fans for a good 10-11 months and been pretty rough with them. The biggest downside is what I make myself - the fan got caught on the zipper (the bag I kept it in) and I had to cut it and make a hole. Even with a hole, the fans flow nicely. This is the perfect set for first silk fans, especially considering the price.
