It works! for safety

For the last few years I've had an intermittent leak in my bathroom and several people "fixed" it only to see it again a few months later. I bought this pack of water detectors and tested each one first (first on my arm as stated on the pack and then on the counter with some water dripping near the base). The test showed that everything works. I put two under the plumbing in my bathroom (after the plumber fixed it 3 months ago - no leaks up to that point - but I wasn't sure if it wouldn't come back the way it used to be). The next morning I showered - damned if I hadn't heard that screeching noise; I knew the leak was back! I was very impressed by this alarm clock! I put the rest near the kettle and washing machine. Now the noise isn't very loud or anything, but it's distinctive enough that in a quiet room you'd probably hear it even between floors - you'd know it wasn't a normal noise; so that it gets your attention. As far as I can tell it will keep beeping until you take it out of the wet and the contacts dry - or the battery dies. Other reviewers mentioned that getting to the battery was difficult. I've tried them all and had no problems (just hold, turn up) - and I'm an older woman. This is a unique battery so you can always have it on hand. Testing on my arm only takes a second or two, so I plan to test them monthly to see how long the batteries last without activation. The amount of damage that could have been caused by just that one leak was worth a very reasonable price. the cost of those little things - especially as I was about to leave the house for a few days.
