The tape has a waterproof surface and an adhesive surface. It's 6 inches wide, which works well with clapboards, especially when layering is required. The adhesive side is questionable. All edges have gaps and places where it just won't stick, even on prepared shingles. Strip, that's a problem, as what the stick actually does, it can't be lifted to remove that section. I've learned that if you can find a good silicone roof sealant even smooth the edges with tape and tar paper and then spray it on well with liquid rubber it gives a solid bond all around and looks nice on the roof I've used a lot of feet and am now satisfied, but i am not dependent on a complete seal without the use of additional products.
