Review on πŸ“‘ Circular Polarized Tram Base Antenna for CB Radios by Francisco Holmes

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Tram antenna with no ground base is good for mobile use. Not for fixed antenna.

This antenna has a very unique design. He has good moments and not so good ones. Good points: 1. Very broadband. (10, 11, 12 meters). Useful SWR on all 3 ranges.2. Lightweight and portable. (1 pound, total 3 feet high).3. Very strong and durable. Thick and durable, will not bend or lose shape.4. Does not require grounding. (uses coaxial cable for ground). 25ft coax – 1.4 – 2.0 up to 1 SWR at 10, 11, 12m. 50ft coax = even better SWR. Note: The coaxial cable must be routed and not twisted or overlapped. Disadvantages: 1. Slightly low signal sensitivity.2. Thick design3. Not customizable. Really worth the money and ideal for a quick set up of an apartment or outdoor camping. I will order a second one for a spare antenna. The antenna was tested in a 3rd floor apartment building and passed through multiple walls with moderate to good performance providing a 2.3 to 3 mile link with average signal levels for both transmit and receive and transmit. An update on a previous review. Marry. March 7, 2018 This antenna can be successfully used with 25 feet of coax cable and 102 inches of counterpoise wire attached somewhere in the ground portion of the coax connector. This is slightly better than using 50ft of coax due to the loss in the coax. SWR values of 1:1 were also obtained using this method.
