Review on KnuKonceptz Complete Gauge Installation Wiring by Chris Drury

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Well written, don't expect more!

. This worked great for my small needs (class AB Kenwood KAC-7202, 460W, 40A fuse). As they say it comes with a 50 amp fuse. Make sure your amp has no more than 50 fuses (30x2=?). The main power cable is very flexible. The insulation could not withstand the high soldering temperatures, it broke off a few centimeters from the solder, which could easily be wrapped with insulating tape. FOR THE PRICE, this is a big step up in the game of making more noise! I can't talk to the terminals as I used Fleet Farm (e.g. Home Depot) copper spade lugs. I have used RCA cables that have a remote turn on lead (one wire) between the L+R channel RCA leads. For me they worked great and made the job easier than running individual wires. You should run the POS power line on one side of the car and the RCA lines on the other (to keep them apart, presumably to reduce noise on the RCA lines). I ran everything together and it worked fine. IF I was feeding an RCA signal to a 4 channel door speaker amplifier I would be feeding it myself and you would need a different kit. Being a mono subwoofer signal just made things easier for me. The speaker wire in this kit (some not included) is actually quite thick, and you get enough of it. Speaker cables don't really have to be that thick. Good luck and remember, none of this matters unless you learn how to set it all up correctly! Running a ground wire to a GOOD grounding surface, upgrading the standard chassis to NEG battery, chassis to engine block, and alternator to POS battery cables are very important when working near 1000 WRMS! Crimp terminals are dangerous and a weak point if not done right! Solder if you can, a cheap propane or butane torch and rosin core solder is all you need. I have since upgraded to a Hifonics 1200W (RMS) Class D amp with 140A fuses and a 1/0 gauge kit. KnuKoncepts has some great stuff, but if you even think you can get a bigger amp or a different amp, don't buy this kit because you'll have to upgrade and install a different power cord. Just ordered their 10 gauge speaker wire for my subwoofers, can't beat $4 for 5 feet.

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
