This is great for what it is, that's why it got 5 stars. That being said, in our experience, this is good for a chinchilla, but not great. Pros: Can't get through the bars (and boy did he try), it comes pre assembled, it's very easy to set up and take down, and for us it's spacious enough for our chinchilla and two adults to sit comfortably. with him. Cons: After about a month, our chinchilla learned to jump out. If something is on the ground, he uses it as a launch platform for his jump. He can also jump over it unaided by jumping to the ledge and climbing up. Our improvised solution is to put cardboard tape on top of the panels (see photo) to add height, although this isn't a long-term solution. Also, like most chinchillas, he's a wall surfer and we were afraid his feet would get stuck in the bars, so we used cardboard for that too. Finally, he likes to gnaw on the poles and grind the fence, probably because he thinks that's how he'll get out, but it's quite annoying. If I could magically find a solution to this, I think the easiest way would be to add metal plates. (or some non-chewable material, ideally over the entire fence as looking at the "outside world" makes me more curious and nervous I think) and so the chinchillas can safely bounce off the wall. And of course, one more foot drop would probably help him hold on. But this is one of the best I've found, it has a lot of space and small bars and it still works with the modifications above.
