After 6 years the old hard drive in my PlayStation 4 started its inevitable demise. The games started to freeze. The data started to get corrupted. The system started shutting down at random times. All signs pointed to a failed hard drive. So I checked here at Revain and elsewhere hoping to find a good replacement without paying outrageous money. After some searching I found this 1TB hard drive. I made sure the specs matched the PS4's native hard drive and saw that this new hard drive would indeed be an upgrade from 500GB to 1TB. I thought it was a good deal since the price difference between 500GB and 1TB drives is only about $20. I ordered a new hard drive and received the unit within 4 days (shipping time was a little longer than usual due to the whole COVID fiasco slowing down the US Postal Service). However, given the circumstances, the device arrived on time. The packaging was adequate and unobtrusive and the product was well protected from possible damage in transit. There are no installation instructions on the packaging, but such information is easy to find on the Internet. I easily installed a new hard drive and updated the PS4 system software using a USB flash drive. Everything was good to happen within 30 minutes. The longest part of this setup process was waiting for PS4 software updates, but there's not much what (as far as I know) can be done to speed up the process. After you finished the installation and updated the software, I noticed that instead of 1TB of free space, there was only about 785GB of free space. At least one other review mentions it. I'm not a computer expert, but I assume that some of this space is occupied by the PS4 operating system. However, 215 GB seems like a lot of space for the operating system. So far this is my only complaint about this hard drive. Otherwise the hard drive works as it should and I am happy with the purchase. If I need another disc in the future I will happily buy from this seller again. This is my only complaint about this hard drive.
