Review on 📱 MotorGuide Pinpoint GPS Navigation Remote Replacement - Compatible with Xi3 and Xi5 Trolling Motors - Includes Lanyard by Jacob Leon

The Motorguide xi5 trolling motor is great and this controller works great with it. My lanyard snapped due to a weak plastic attachment point on the remote. There is a solution for this on YouTube which I believe involves a nylon strap going from one screw to the other on the back of the remote. However, I just bought a second remote control. I now have one with a one man leash on the casting deck and the other (with a broken lanyard attachment) with velcro on the cockpit dash. Apparently you can have up to 48 remotes and only 2 is no problem. Connecting the remote to the motor takes about 5 seconds, no big deal. If I remember correctly you need to connect the XI5 to power. Then how short press the left arrow and right arrow on the remote control at the same time, and then it will communicate. I first tried to connect to the xi5 which was on for about half an hour and it wouldn't connect. Turning the engine back on and it worked right away. I then went through the basic remote control instructions and discovered a number of features that I didn't use. Wow. Now I love my xi5 even more. I've never used the autopilot features and it works great. If you're still figuring out how to follow the route and delete the old route when you're done, you need to watch the video. In general, the remote control is excellent. Sometimes you can hear the engine horn in the middle or at the stern of the boat so I wish it had an LCD screen. This is a more durable lanyard holder. Otherwise a good product.
