Adding a simple little tool to my cast iron cleaning process made a HUGE difference! The different shapes allow you to properly clean both the curved sides of the pan and the flat bottom. I've used a few different methods to clean cast iron: salt and paper towels, scrubbing brush with mild soap, boiling water, high heat to burn off stubborn food debris - this little scraper is now the only thing I have besides a sponge and hot water need and mild soap. While the pan is still hot I take it off the heat and use this scraper to get close to it. This makes it easier to remove stuck food residue. Then I quickly wipe down the pan with a sponge, mild soap, and very, very hot water. I then dry it on a burner and then proceed with the rest of the seasoning process. I used to be afraid of doing certain things in cast iron because of the cleaning process, but this little guy does most of the work for me. I have bought extras for myself and for a friend of mine who often cooks in cast iron. He has also recommended it to his family. I LOVE this scraper. It's also useful for scraping the counter after rolling out the dough.
