Made me act like a kid again

This device is a lot of fun. Me, a 37 year old female, was giggling and running around the house trying to find things that I thought would look interesting under a microscope. I've attached a picture of one of my hair and a standard towel. The microscope is equipped with a dimmable light for object illumination. The shutter button works for taking photos, although I always have to double-check to make sure I'm not hitting the power button in a similar spot on the opposite side. I saw another review that said there is only one level of magnification and the knob is for focusing only. This is not true as I am showing two different magnifications of the same grid (the scale that comes with the microscope) in my drawing. However, from a distance it is only visible at double magnification. You need to change the distance to the microscope to focus on intermediate magnifications. It's a bit fiddly and the only way to know what magnification you're looking at is to use the grid I mentioned. My only real problem is with the software/instructions. Unlike most accessories that connect via Bluetooth, this microscope connects via Wi-Fi. The instructions were a bit confusing. The software keeps asking for your location. I think this allows her to tag the photos/videos you take with location. However, if you do not wish to share this information, you must ignore the warning every time you enter the software (application). You have to use their app to use the microscope and it doesn't show up in the US store under the name given, which caused some privacy issues for me (why I didn't want to give my location). Half the time the app wouldn't connect to the camera and I had to restart the app. This microscope itself is inexpensive and works well, you just need to make some major upgrades to your software. But once you get started, it's a fun toy for adults too. I enjoyed it too much.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • poorly thought out
