Although they have a fairly short lifespan, they're great for pots and pans - great for lots of tough cleaning jobs and great root vegetable cleaners. I cut the leaves into four pieces; I use the new ones for carrots and potatoes and also for attacking oops! burned greasy crockery base. When they're worn out, I use them for less demanding cleaning and throw them away when they're old. The texture isn't that different from the green Scotch-Brite pods, but for some reason I prefer the burgundy pods.
