This was a great result for a retail price of $19.95. While the base is set into the wall, the container itself is wireless. I hold a lot of water. The base lights up when heated, and after the water reaches the level of intense boiling in a very short time, the light and electricity are turned off. Easy to use and maintain. If you have a water softener I don't see scale as a problem. I am English from grandmother's side and in the evenings when she breastfed me I learned to drink tea. Let me fix that. I'm addicted to tea. So, with the exception of the occasional Starbucks Venti Soy Latte with whipped cream and a request to hold the froth (this drink doesn't upset the stomach no matter how much), I usually always have a kettle on hand. No matter how efficient an old kettle is, this device heats up faster and quieter.
