Bought two for window ducts nearby - they arrived in very different shades of white and grey. Translucent can be misleading - they block more than 75% of light. On the other hand, they're very strong, but that doesn't mean flexibility in fitting your fountain either - it has to fit perfectly, and many old fountains have fallen apart over the years. They don't need to be secured or weighted down (unless you're in tornado areas). Yes they cover the window vents but the molded plastic finish should have been better - mine both looked like they had been melted under great heat - much like melted candle wax. Only time will tell how they hold up in constant sun.
