Review on AP Products 1212 13 024 1000 Monitor by James Bull

Great product, not so good "racks "!

I used this set of two gauges and monitors on my saddle wheel trailer which has two 30 lb tanks in an integral all sheet metal housing. I'll admit I wasn't sure if it would work properly since the entire body was metal, but I was pleasantly surprised that everything worked fine for a couple of months after installing it. It was nice to be able to inform my camper guests that the stove has stopped working due to a tank "running out of nowhere"! This product has eliminated the "surprise" I usually get in the middle of the night because of an unexpectedly empty tank. Now I can plan accordingly and have a really good idea of when to change the tank on mountain hikes! The monitor has been installed right next to the water tank monitor and is a great addition to the camper. I have a complaint about this product, although it has nothing to do with the functionality of the device. I have a feeling that the tank's included "stands" needed for ground sensor clearance could have been made a bit larger and possibly made of better material than they are. The biggest complaint is the size, these racks are only about 1" x 1" and trying to squeeze the tanks with the parts attached into the case is quite a challenge. They tend to slip and fall in various places under the tank itself rather than staying where they were put on. This creates very little room to try and slide your fingers through and reposition them as needed. A larger size would be most helpful. Second, they're fairly soft rubber, so I'm pretty sure that when I tighten the tank mount, the bad sensor will be squeezed tightly between the tank and the tank mount. A stiffer material can be used to protect the sensors. Time will tell if I have to make my own racks or not.
