Yes it is a relay but the added function made me want it. All spade terminals are recessed into the groove, making them even safer when using high voltage on the contact terminals. They even come with crimped wires for easy installation. - Contact tabs are not the "standard" size you see on most devices, but are smaller (they can come in 8 different sizes ranging from 1.5mm to 6mm wide) and you need to take this into account when using want to crimp your own cables. I have both clamps and pliers etc but I don't expect everyone else will have them and this could be a nuisance - no pun intended. Luckily it came with crimped leads so it was easy to use/install. . I was very happy.
