The unlock cable has a plastic connector that connects the cable to the door latch. This is the plastic part that wears out and eventually fails. The replacement part (from China) is great BUT it also has a plastic connector that connects the latch. So sooner or later this cable will fail! You can solve this problem by ordering a door lock cable repair kit compatible with F-Series Ford Ranger Expedition Excursion Navigator. And yes, metal replacement works great, but in my case the cable was self-crimped and didn't slide up and down properly to open the door. To be honest I would highly recommend this product for fixing a broken doorknob! It works out.
