Review on πŸ”§ SS-02 Solder Sucker Desoldering Pump by ENGINEER by Peter Zouhair

I relax, I like it!

I like it, I really like it. I like the non-fusible tip and metal body which gives it a premium feel. I'm used to using a plastic solder cup that clogs and often needs new tips. This solder sucker has many advantages and I think they are close to making something great but unfortunately they didn't. It doesn't generate enough suction for me. I can clean it and stretch the spring and it will work for a while, but soon it will be ineffective again. I tried it for 6 months and sadly found that it just wasn't worth $30. Let me know if you have an updated model that has more and more suction all the time. UPDATE: So I decided to oil the inside, it fixed my problem. I now have reliable, relatively simple "hook" solder suckers that are much more secure than the plastic suckers I've used. The rubber tip fell off a few times after a while, but it's very cheap to replace (I like the plastic model I used).

Pros
  • Withstands direct contact with a soldering iron (max. 350C)
Cons
  • thin
