Review on Kitory Utility Knife, 5 Inch Fine-Edge Kitchen Knife, Sharp German High Carbon Stainless Steel, Full Tang Pakkawood Handle With Gift Box - Metadrop Series by Jamie Mousavi

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very long and almost lethal-looking. Well-balanced. Super-sharp.

When I ordered this, I thought the 12" reference meant the entire knife (blade + handle) was a foot long.I was wrong. The blade itself is 12 inches. The handle adds nearly six inches to that, so the entire knife is close to 18 inches long. (My husband jokes that it looks like a bayonet, and he's right.)This knife is very well-balanced. You'll need a firm grip to hold it, but the blade doesn't tug the knife downward. The handle is well-designed and feels comfortable. Cutting something challenging, this wouldn't tire my hand. Holding it feels very natural. The blade is super-sharp and the metal is very thin. This can cut very precisely.I'd ordered this because I needed a good, long knife to cut homemade bread. For that purpose, this knife is far longer than necessary. Also, it's not serrated, so it can cut textured breads such as date bread or carrot bread, but it's not quite so good with white bread that has a buttery crust. It would work well if you're cutting pastry or something with a moist surface, and you want a hyper-precise cut.I'll admit that this knife's appearance makes me uneasy. It looks lethal. Except that it's genuinely sharp, it'd be an ideal prop for a horror movie. But, if you work in a kitchen and need a truly long, super-sharp knife made of extremely thin carbon steel, I'm sure you'll be dazzled by this.Honestly, I've never seen anything like it before. This is definitely for professional cooks.
