I fried prime spare ribs for Christmas only to find my digital home thermometer wasn't working properly. Instead, I had to use a digital thermometer for quick tests to regularly check the temperature of the roast. This instant read Yakaon thermometer would have really saved the day if I had had it then. It works like a regular instant-read thermometer, but also has a port for connecting a wired thermometer probe for a continuous reading. I checked the built in and wired probes for accuracy and their readings were identical. The thermometer is easy and intuitive to use. I really like how it turns on or off by opening or closing the built in probe. Such a thermometer is indispensable for everyone who cooks a lot on the grill, but it is also very useful in the kitchen for roasts. And its price is much lower than most digital thermometers I've seen before. Definitely recommended.
