Review on X-Rite RM200QC Spectrocolorimeter with Imaging capabilities by Charles Russell

Better for printing than fabric

My Capsure is approximately 50% accurate with Solid Uncoated Fanbook and completely inaccurate with colored jerseys. I spoke to Pantone tech support. They said that for fan books it should be 99% accurate. Sometimes some colors are rendered correctly. He's almost always wrong with pastels. Right now we're working with 4525 and 453, dark gold and greenish beige, and they're usually wrong. When I recalibrate it, the accuracy improves for a while. The problem with bulky knits is that light penetrates the knit. I increased accuracy by placing the fabric against the black paper, then lining a small box with the black paper and pressing the Capsure firmly onto the knit. Typically this resulted in a darker number than the actual yarn, e.g. E.g. 166 instead of 165. But often three readings resulted in three different numbers. A Pantone spokesman said they have another model, the RM200QC, for quality control purposes. It costs almost $2,000 and she said it wouldn't help me.

Cons
