I only rated this filter very low because my new vacuum uses a much better and 5 times cheaper filter. This filter is difficult to remove and replace due to the construction of the vacuum cleaner. Due to the high cost and difficulty finding replacement filters and belts, I bought Hoover's latest bagless vacuum for $50 less than the old one that used this filter (my new one doesn't have an auto-winder). My new vacuum is lighter, easier to use and works great on old carpets. Winding the power cord manually isn't a problem, as using the auto-winder was inconvenient on the older model as it would never pull out the entire cord and would require fiddling with it to get the last bit into the winder.
