I mounted this dive light on a 30ft boat. The lantern is installed approximately 38 inches below the waterline in the drain plug. The light was very bright when I looked at it, installed in the driveway in front of the boat when in the water. Upon entering the water, the light is barely visible at night when it is shining. under the bathing platform. I'm in NYC so the water isn't clear, although lately it's been fairly clear up to 6ft so may get better results in tropical clear waters or when the light is closer to the surface. I will be replacing this light with another manufacturer that offers triple light that appears much brighter.
